What Does LED Stand For?

January 27th, 2012

Everyone is talking about LED light bulbs and basically everyone knows what an LED light is, but do you know what it is all about? Although for some of us don’t need to know, because we know when we flip the switch it works and that is good enough, there are some of us that want to know the how and why to make sure we are investing in the right thing. Light emitting diodes are responsible for this new craze in lighting. In one bulb, you will find more than one diode that gives of a bright beam of light which is then reflected outwards. These little diodes emit more light than your halogen or incandescent lights because of the technology behind it, but it also draws less power from your home or battery to do so. Now this is good news because we want to help our environment cope with the overload of demand for electricity and if we can get the same use out of a light which uses less electricity, we will save money and help to save the environment at the same time.
